Duplicating a file or creating a version of it
To test an assumption without touching the plan handed to the bank: duplicate it. To prepare the annual update of the same plan: create a version of it.
What it is for
The file's menu offers two actions:
| Action | The new file | Its name |
|---|---|---|
| Duplicate dossier | an independent file | the original name followed by “(copy)” |
| Create a new version | linked to the original, with a version number | the original name followed by “v2”, “v3”… |
In both cases, the copy takes over everything: the lines and their companion lines, the amounts, the financial years and the tax losses carried forward, the tax parameters, the report comments. It is born as a draft, with no deadline, and the firm's activity records “created by duplication”.
Steps
- Open the file, then its menu.
- Choose Duplicate dossier or Create a new version.
- Fiplan opens the copy: rename it if needed in Dossier Settings.
Worked example · Boulangerie Dupont SRL
The bakery's “Plan financier 2027-2029” has been delivered to the notary. To measure the effect of a second oven, the firm duplicates it: “Plan financier 2027-2029 (copy)” takes over the same figures — revenue of €216,000.00 in 2027, net result of €83,076.13 — and it is the copy that receives the lease for the oven. The delivered plan does not move.
A year later, to update the plan, the firm creates a new version: “Plan financier 2027-2029 v2”.

Fiplan convention (duplicate_dossier, useDuplicateDossier): what the copy takes over, the draft status, the deadline not copied, the version number, the same rights as for creating a file.
